Frequently asked questions

Good questions, straight answers.

This page answers the questions people ask SkyerWorks before they start: what a custom website, a wedding website or a property map costs, how long it takes, what you own, who hosts it and what happens after launch. Every price is a starting price in USD, fixed in a written proposal before any work begins, and every answer comes from the person who does the work.

What does a website or map cost?

Business websites start at $2,000, wedding websites at $1,000 and interactive property maps at $500. Simple one-page sites start at $800 and static maps at $250. You receive a fixed proposal before the build begins; the pricing page has every starting price and what each one includes.

What is included at each starting price?

The $2,000 business website includes up to 5 custom-designed pages, mobile layouts and an inquiry form, page titles, descriptions and search setup, analytics setup and launch handover, and two revision rounds. The $1,000 wedding website includes a custom design for the celebration, RSVP, schedule and travel information, gallery and registry links, 12 months of standard hosting and two revision rounds. The $500 interactive map includes one custom illustrated property, up to 8 clickable points of interest, a mobile-friendly map and shareable page, print-ready artwork and two revision rounds.

Starting packages use your supplied photos and draft content. Copywriting, larger properties, additional pages, booking integrations and custom features are quoted separately, as are domain registration and paid third-party services.

How is payment split?

50% to begin and the balance before launch. The deposit is paid only after you approve the written proposal, which comes after the free mockup, so you have seen a designed first pass before any money changes hands.

Is the first mockup really free?

Yes. After a short call confirms scope and budget, Wayne designs one first-pass homepage or map, free, so you can see the direction before committing. Revisions and the full build begin after you approve the proposal and pay the 50% deposit.

Process and timelines

A project runs in four steps: a fifteen-minute call, a free mockup, the build, then launch and care. Your launch date is written into the proposal before you commit to anything.

How does a project work, start to finish?

Step one is the call, fifteen minutes about your business, your day or your property. Step two is the free mockup, a homepage or first pass of the map that you see before you pay a thing. Step three is the build, every page, every room, every pin. Step four is live and looked after: launched on your domain and updated when plans change. The process page has the detail.

What happens after the free mockup?

You say yes, or say what to change. Then you receive a proposal with the fixed price, the scope and the launch date; once you approve it and pay the 50% deposit, the revision rounds and the full build begin. Nothing is owed if you decide not to go ahead.

How long does a website take?

Your proposal includes a launch date, agreed before any payment. The biggest variable is how quickly your photos and text arrive: a one-page site with content in hand is a short project, and a five-page site with custom features takes longer. If you have a hard deadline, say so on the first call and it becomes part of the plan.

How many revision rounds do I get?

Two revision rounds are included in every starting package, for websites, wedding websites and maps alike. Changes beyond those rounds, and new features after launch, are quoted separately or covered by the update hours in a care plan.

What do I need to supply?

For a website: your logo, photos, any existing text and the questions customers ask you most. Starting packages use your supplied photos and draft content, and copywriting can be added to the scope. For a map: floor plans, a site plan, listing photos, a drone shot or a phone video walking the property.

Who actually builds it?

Wayne Scire, from the first call to launch. SkyerWorks is a one-person studio and nothing is outsourced: the person who designs your free mockup is the person who codes the finished site, draws the map and looks after the hosting. Read more on the about page.

Where is SkyerWorks, and can we meet?

SkyerWorks is remote-first and works with clients across the United States and the Caribbean by video call. The first call, the mockup review and the handover all happen on a call or by email, and a video-call walk-through works for mapping a property that has no plans.

Where can I follow SkyerWorks?

On Instagram (opens in a new tab) and X (opens in a new tab) as @skyerworks, and on Facebook (opens in a new tab) as SkyerWorks: new websites, maps and builds in progress. The about page has all three.

Business websites

A SkyerWorks business website is hand-coded from $2,000 for up to five pages, with hosting and care separate from the build at $79 to $299 a month.

Can you redesign my current website?

Yes. The first job is deciding what to keep, what customers struggle to find and what needs a fresh start. Your proposal covers moving your content, keeping important page addresses working with redirects so you do not lose search rankings, and reconnecting the tools that have to stay, such as booking systems or payment links.

Can I update the site myself?

If you want to edit menus, posts, services or galleries yourself, say so at the start, and an editing system with a short training session can be part of the scope. Otherwise a care plan covers a set amount of updates each month.

Is hosting included with a business website?

Not in the build price. Hosting for business sites is separate and is covered by the care plans, from $79 a month for standard hosting, monitoring, backups and software maintenance. You are also free to host the site anywhere you like, because after final payment your design, content and domain are yours.

How is a hand-built site different from Squarespace or Wix?

Every SkyerWorks page is written by hand in HTML, CSS and JavaScript, with no templates or page builders, fonts hosted on your own domain and nothing loaded from third parties unless a feature needs it. You own your design, content and domain rather than renting a place on a platform. The guide Custom website vs Squarespace compares cost over three years, speed and ownership.

Wedding websites

A custom wedding website starts at $1,000 and includes 12 months of standard hosting; destination packages with a property map and room finder start at $2,000.

How long does a wedding website take?

Tell Wayne your date on the first call. Most couples want the site live before save-the-dates go out, and if you are on a tight timeline you get a real launch date before you commit to anything.

What happens to wedding hosting after the first year?

The first 12 months of standard hosting are included in the build. After that, standard wedding hosting renews at $180 a year, or you can choose a care plan if you want monitoring, backups and update hours to continue. Your domain stays in your name either way.

Is this only for destination weddings?

Not at all. Backyard, ballroom, barn or beach: if guests need to find their way, a wedding website helps. And business websites get the same hand-built treatment: restaurants, trades, clinics, studios and shops.

What is in a destination wedding package?

Everything in the $1,000 wedding website plus an interactive property map and a room finder, from $2,000. Wayne and Christy's own site, ido2026.com, gave every guest an island map with directions, the schedule, travel information and RSVP for their wedding at Villa Serenita on St. Thomas.

Property maps and 3D directions

Static maps start at $250 and interactive maps at $500, built from whatever you have of the property. Room finders, 3D maps and route previews are quoted to scope.

What do you need to map our villa?

Whatever you have: floor plans, a site plan, listing photos, a drone shot, or a phone video walking the property. No plans at all? A video-call walk-through works.

Can the map show which guests are in which room?

Yes. The room finder lights up each guest's suite, level by level. How guest details are shared and whether the page needs a password is agreed up front, because an unlisted link alone is not private. Room-list changes for each new group can be quoted per booking or included in a care plan.

Can we print it?

Yes. Every map comes with a print-ready version for welcome binders, signage and QR cards.

What is the difference between a static, an interactive and a 3D map?

A static map, from $250, is one custom illustration of the property, delivered print-ready. An interactive map, from $500, adds up to 8 clickable points of interest, a mobile-friendly layout and a shareable page. 3D maps, room finders and route guides build on those and are quoted to scope. The property maps page and the buyer's guide go deeper.

How does the 3D driving preview work, and what does it need?

The Island Journey opens as a flat overhead map, draws the route, rises into real relief and drives the last 1.2 miles to the villa with turn cards, pausing at each real roadside sign. It runs in the browser on Mapbox, with real satellite imagery, 3D terrain, roads, place labels and 3D trees, and the route comes from the Mapbox Directions API; buildings near the route are OpenStreetMap footprints. If Mapbox cannot load, the page switches automatically to a self-hosted version built from OpenStreetMap data and public elevation tiles, with no API keys and no third-party requests. Phones without 3D support get the same overhead map and turn list.

Each preview is generated from a config file, so a new property is a new config: it starts from the property's location and the road guests arrive by, and the buildings nearby are checked against aerial imagery. It can run on Mapbox, using a Mapbox token we manage for your map, restricted to your site, with your proposal setting out who pays for any Mapbox usage above the monthly free allowance, or fully self-hosted with no keys. 3D previews are quoted to scope; see the 3D directions page.

Hosting, ownership and care

After final payment, your design, content and domain are yours; the shared map engine is licensed to you for your site, forever. Care plans run $79, $149 and $299 a month, with update hours that reset monthly.

Do we own it?

Yes. After final payment, your design, content and domain are yours; the shared map engine is licensed to you for your site, forever. If you ever move on, you take your design and content with you. Any third-party software or subscriptions are listed in your proposal.

What does a care plan include?

Hosting & care at $79 a month covers standard hosting, monitoring, backups and applicable software maintenance. A little more help at $149 adds up to 1 hour of content or map updates each month, and Room to grow at $299 adds up to 3 hours, with additional work at $100 an hour. Hosting suitability and response expectations are agreed in the proposal.

Do unused update hours roll over, and what is not covered?

Update hours reset monthly and do not roll over. New features and redesigns are quoted separately rather than drawn from care-plan hours. The guide What does a website care plan include? explains what to check in any care plan, including ones that are not ours.
