How much does a wedding website cost in 2026?
A wedding website costs anywhere from nothing to several thousand dollars: free on a builder plus a $15–$20 domain, $99–$199 a year on a paid builder plan, $1,000–$2,000 for a custom site from a small studio such as SkyerWorks, with copywriting, extra pages and 3D previews quoted, and often $5,000 and up from an agency. The builder and agency figures are the ranges published pricing guides generally give; the SkyerWorks figures are our own starting prices. This guide sets out what you get at each level, what pushes the price up, when a free builder is the right answer and when a custom site is worth it.
- $0 + domainA free builder, plus a $15–$20 domain a year if you want your own address.
- $99–$199A year for a paid builder plan, for as long as the site is up.
- $1,000–$2,000A custom wedding website from a small studio such as SkyerWorks, with copywriting, extra pages and 3D previews quoted.
- $5,000+What agency-built custom wedding websites often cost.
Wedding website costs by option
Four paths cover almost every wedding website: a free builder, a paid builder plan, a custom site from a small studio and a custom site from an agency. The table shows what each costs, what you get, what you own and the costs that tend to appear later. If you already know you want a custom site, the wedding websites page lists exactly what the $1,000 and $2,000 packages include and the pricing page has every starting price in one place.
| Option | What you pay | What you get | What you own | Costs that appear later |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free builder | $0 | A template, RSVP and registry tools on most builders, and the platform's web address. | The text and photos you upload; the site stays on the platform. | A $15–$20 domain a year for your own address, where the free tier allows one; platform branding or ads on many free tiers; passwords and other features often only on paid tiers. |
| Paid builder plan | $99–$199 a year | A template with more options, usually your own domain and password protection. | The content; the site still lives on the platform, and export is partial at best. | The plan renews every year the site is up; the domain is often extra after the first year. |
| Custom site, small studio (SkyerWorks) | $1,000–$2,000 | A design made for your wedding; RSVP, schedule and travel pages; gallery and registry links; 12 months of standard hosting; two revision rounds. The $2,000 destination package adds a property map and a room finder. | Your domain, in your name; your design and content after final payment; the shared map engine, licensed to you for your site, forever. | Domain registration; hosting at $180 a year after the first year, or a care plan from $79 a month; copywriting, extra pages and custom features quoted separately. |
| Custom site, agency | Often $5,000+ | Depends on the agency; ask what the price covers. | Depends on the contract; ask who holds the domain and the files. | Hosting, maintenance and later changes, usually quoted separately. |
The builder and agency rows are the soft ranges published pricing guides generally give, and the details vary by builder and plan; check the plan comparison before you print an address on a save-the-date. The SkyerWorks row is exact: $1,000 for a wedding website and $2,000 for the destination package, with copywriting, extra pages, custom features and 3D previews quoted separately.
What drives the price up
Five things move a wedding website from the bottom of the range to the top: custom design, maps and room finders, the volume of photos, the complexity of the RSVP and how soon it has to be live.
- Custom design. A template costs nothing because it was designed once for everyone. A site that matches your invitations is designed once, for you, and that design work is what a custom price pays for. At SkyerWorks it starts at $1,000 and you approve a free first-pass homepage before the deposit.
- Maps and room finders. A pin on a general-purpose map is free. An illustrated property map starts at $500 on its own at SkyerWorks (static artwork from $250), a room finder that lights up each guest's suite, level by level, is quoted to scope, and a 3D driving-direction preview is quoted to scope. The $2,000 destination package includes the map and the room finder.
- Photo volume. Starting packages use your supplied photos. A large gallery takes longer to prepare and size for small screens, and if you want the selection and editing done for you, that is extra work on any path.
- RSVP complexity. A yes-or-no RSVP is simple. Meal choices, plus-ones, several events and travel questions take more design and testing; booking integrations and custom features are quoted separately at SkyerWorks.
- Rush. The closer the launch date, the less room there is for revision rounds and for gathering photos and text, and some designers charge for it. At SkyerWorks the proposal fixes the price and gives you a real launch date before you commit; say on the first call if save-the-dates are going out soon.
When a free builder is the right answer
A free builder is the right answer when the wedding is local, the guest list knows the area, and a template with the platform's address does not bother you.
If most guests can drive to the venue, the schedule fits on one page and the RSVP is a yes or a no, a free builder does the job. Budget $15–$20 a year for a domain if you want your own address rather than the platform's, check whether the free tier shows platform branding, and check what a password costs before you rely on one. If you are happy with those terms, spend the money on the day instead.
When a custom wedding website is worth it
A custom site is worth it when guests are travelling, when privacy matters, when the site has to match the invitations, or when guests need directions a pin cannot give.
- Destination weddings. Guests are booking flights and rooms off the information on the site. A travel page, hotel blocks, a weekend timeline and a room finder cut down the questions that otherwise arrive one message at a time. The destination wedding website checklist lists what belongs on it and when each page has to be live.
- Privacy. Whether the site needs a password, and how guest details are shared, should be decided up front; an unlisted link alone is not private. On a custom site that decision is designed in rather than bought as a plan feature.
- A site that matches the invitations. The invitations, the signage and the website are the three things every guest sees. A custom design makes them one set.
- Guests who need directions. On island and rural roads a GPS pin can land on the wrong road or the wrong gate. An illustrated property map and, for the last stretch, a 3D driving-direction preview show guests the way before they drive it.
This is first-hand. Wayne Scire, who designs and builds every SkyerWorks site, built ido2026.com for his own destination wedding at Villa Serenita, St. Thomas, on October 7, 2026. It gave every guest an island map with directions, the schedule, travel information and RSVP. The Island Journey preview drives the last 1.2 miles to the villa in 3D, with a stop at each real roadside sign.
A worked example at SkyerWorks prices
A custom wedding website from SkyerWorks costs $1,000 in the first year plus your domain, and $180 a year after that if you keep it up. The destination package is $2,000 on the same terms.
| Line | Wedding website | Destination package |
|---|---|---|
| Build, one time | $1,000 | $2,000 |
| Included | Custom design; RSVP, schedule and travel information; gallery and registry links; 12 months of standard hosting; two revision rounds. | Everything in the wedding website, plus an illustrated property map and a room finder. |
| Domain registration | Separate; published pricing guides generally put a domain at $15–$20 a year. | Same. |
| Hosting from year two | $180 a year, or a care plan from $79 a month. | Same. |
| Quoted separately | Copywriting, additional pages, booking integrations, custom features. | The same, plus a 3D driving-direction preview to scope. |
| Payment | 50% to begin, the balance before launch. | Same. |
Before any of that, a fifteen-minute call confirms scope and budget and Wayne designs one first-pass homepage free, so you see the direction before committing. The price is fixed in a written proposal, with a real launch date, before the 50% deposit. Most couples want the site live before save-the-dates go out, so the earlier the call, the easier the schedule. The wedding websites page has the full inclusions, and the pricing page puts these numbers beside the business website and map prices.
Questions about wedding website costs
Is a free wedding website really free?
The site is. Your own address is a $15–$20 domain a year, where the free tier allows one, and many free tiers show platform branding or keep passwords and other features for paid plans. Read the plan comparison before you print the address on a save-the-date.
How much does a custom wedding website cost?
$1,000–$2,000 from a small studio such as SkyerWorks, where the wedding website starts at $1,000 and the destination package with a property map and room finder at $2,000, with copywriting, extra pages and 3D previews quoted. Published pricing guides generally put agency-built wedding sites at $5,000 and up.
What is the cheapest way to get a wedding website on our own domain?
A free builder plus a $15–$20 domain, if the builder lets you connect one on its free tier. Many only allow it on a paid plan at $99–$199 a year, which is the real floor for a site at your own address on a builder.
How much does a wedding website cost per year after launch?
On a builder, the plan itself: $99–$199 a year, plus the domain. At SkyerWorks, the first 12 months of standard hosting are included, then $180 a year, or a care plan from $79 a month if you want monitoring, backups and a set amount of updates each month.
What does a destination wedding website cost?
The SkyerWorks destination package is $2,000: the wedding website plus an illustrated property map and a room finder. A 3D driving-direction preview of the last stretch to the property is quoted to scope.
Who owns a custom wedding website?
At SkyerWorks, you do: the domain is registered in your name, and after final payment your design, content and domain are yours; the shared map engine is licensed to you for your site, forever. On a builder, the site lives on the platform; check what you can export before you choose one.
Do we pay the whole price up front?
No. Payment is 50% to begin and the balance before launch, after the free mockup and the written proposal.
How long before the wedding do we need the site?
Most couples want it live before save-the-dates go out, so the address can go on the card. SkyerWorks gives you a real launch date before you commit, so the date is part of the proposal rather than a hope.
